Family fun & fresh:

Choose and cut your own Christmas Tree, and you’ll know it’s FRESH! Our farm provides a great opportunity to renew the tradition of going out into the woods, choosing the perfect tree, and harvesting it for your family’s Christmas season. We have a large selection of Balsam and Fraser Fir trees. Christmas tree pricing is $60 for all trees under 8 ft, trees from 8 to 12 ft tall are $70, and trees over 12 ft are $80.

We make it easy for you:

On weekends, enjoy a free wagon ride to and from the fields and we’ll even haul your tree for you!  When you get back, we bale your tree to keep it manageable for the ride to your home.  Your tree is tagged and you receive a numbered receipt to preserve the identity of the tree while you browse our wreaths or take family pictures.

Wreaths and accessories:

There are dozens of fresh wreaths and decorations for sale along with some local treats.  Our wreaths, garland, and decorative bows are made right here by hand on our farm.  We offer classes to build your own with friends and family too!

Tips for Your First Choose & Cut Christmas Tree Experience

PLANNING AHEAD
Wear warm clothes, and boots if it’s cold or wet. Good gloves are helpful.  Wagon rides to and from the pines and baling are included at no extra charge. Hand saws are provided, or bring your own. If it’s wet, do you have something to kneel or lie on when you saw it down? A piece of cardboard is useful. If you bring your dog, please keep it on a leash while you are here.

FINDING THE PERFECT TREE
Enjoy a quick tractor ride from the cabin, out to the fields. You can search our fields for as long as it takes to find your perfect tree. Every section of our tree farm has its own character just as every tree has its individual characteristics.  Most are traditionally shaped because they’ve been lovingly hand pruned regularly, but you’ll also find the odd tree that refuses to conform.  These can make wonderful, artistic Christmas trees too!  Trees often look larger in your house than they did in the field, especially once they are in their tree stand!

CUTTING THE TREE
If you have brought your own saw, use it if you’d like but you may borrow ours, which have large offset teeth specially designed for cutting trees.  If you need help sawing, call a worker over to assist you — tractor drivers have saws and can also give or summon help.  Hansen Family Choose & Cut workers are always easy to find and happy to help!

Cut low to the ground and straight across.  You can always trim off the lower branches at home — but you’ll want to leave yourself enough trunk on that initial cut to fit in the tree stand.  If you can, have someone pull the tree slightly away from the side where you’re cutting.  This will prevent the saw from binding and make the work much easier.

CARRYING THE TREE
Once you’ve cut your tree and you’re ready to head back, it won’t harm your tree to drag it butt end first.  Take it to the nearest lane and wait for the next wagon which will take you to the baler.  If you need help, ask workers.

PREPARING THE TREE FOR THE RIDE HOME
Baling is the wrapping up on the tree to securely reduce its width and make it easier to tie to your vehicle and carry it into your home. It is included at no extra charge. We suggest bringing materials to secure the tree to your vehicle, but we do offer free twine on-site to tie it down as well.
